Requirements
Savepoint is a Windows desktop application.
- Windows 11, 64-bit is currently tested and supported. Savepoint is also expected to work on current 64-bit Windows 10 systems with Microsoft Edge WebView2, but Windows 10 has not yet been part of our Alpha test matrix.
- Savepoint uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime. This is already present on Windows 11 and on most up-to-date Windows 10 machines. If it is missing, the installer downloads and installs it for you, which requires an internet connection during installation only.
- No administrator rights are needed.
- There is no macOS or Linux version.

What Windows will say the first time
The Savepoint 0.1 Alpha installers are not yet digitally signed, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show a warning such as “Windows protected your PC”, naming the publisher as Unknown. That is SmartScreen behaving exactly as intended for an application it has not seen before: a statement about the file’s missing signature, not a detection of anything harmful. Do not turn off SmartScreen, Microsoft Defender, or any other Windows security feature to install Savepoint. Download only from this page and verify the checksum above if you want certainty. Signed distribution is planned before any broader release.
Your data if you uninstall
Uninstalling Savepoint keeps your data by default: the uninstaller has a “Delete the application data” checkbox, unticked unless you choose otherwise. Leave it unticked and your Savepoints survive an uninstall or reinstall. Tick it and everything you wrote is permanently deleted.
This is an alpha
0.1 Alpha means early: it is stable in daily use but still gathering feedback. If something breaks or annoys you, tell us through the work with AliNQuality page.

What Savepoint does
At the end of your shift you write down what matters. The next morning Savepoint hands it back.
- One current Savepoint. Add what you are in the middle of, who you are waiting on, what you owe someone, what is scheduled, and anything you would rather not reconstruct tomorrow. Coming back to it later in the day adds to the same savepoint rather than starting another.
- Resume. The start-of-shift reminder opens straight onto the previous workday's savepoint. Mark items done, or carry them forward into today's.
- Reminders that come to you. Savepoint opens itself, once, ten minutes after your shift starts and thirty minutes before it ends. A Windows notification follows a second or two behind.
- Weekly Wrap-Up. Off by default. Switch it on and Savepoint gathers the week's loose ends one afternoon a week so you can close them out.
- Recently Used Apps. Optional. Offers the applications you were working in as a starting point, so filling in a savepoint is click, type a sentence, press Enter.
- History. Every savepoint you have saved, newest first.
You stay in control of it
Installing Savepoint does not mean agreeing to be interrupted by it. Every reminder can be snoozed for ten or thirty minutes, pushed to the end of your shift, or dismissed for the day. Reminders can be paused for an hour, until tomorrow, or until you turn them back on, and the start-of-shift and end-of-shift reminders can each be switched off on their own. The Weekly Wrap-Up and Recently Used Apps have their own switches too.
There are no administrator-enforced settings.
Privacy
Savepoint is local-first and makes no network calls at all. Everything is
kept in a SQLite database on your own machine, at
%APPDATA%\com.savepoint.desktop.
With Recently Used Apps switched on, Savepoint records only an application's name and when it was last seen, and only during your scheduled work hours. It does not collect window titles, browser URLs or history, keystrokes, screenshots, clipboard contents, document contents, email subjects, mouse activity, productivity scores, or telemetry of any kind. Switching the feature off deletes what has already been observed, immediately.
Installing
Run Savepoint-0.1.0-alpha-Setup.exe. It installs for the current user
only (no administrator rights needed) into
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Savepoint, and adds a Start Menu entry.
Savepoint starts with Windows and waits in the system tray. Closing the window with X leaves it running there; Tray → Quit exits properly.
This alpha is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen will most likely warn that the publisher is unrecognised. Choose More info → Run anyway to continue. See "Known limitations" below.
Uninstall from Settings → Apps, or via the Start Menu entry. Uninstalling
deliberately leaves your savepoints in place, so reinstalling picks up where
you left off. Delete %APPDATA%\com.savepoint.desktop yourself if you want
them gone.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime. Present by default on Windows 11; the installer fetches it if it is missing
Known limitations
- Not code-signed. Expect a SmartScreen warning on first run. Nothing is wrong with the download; the publisher simply has no reputation yet.
- Overnight shifts are not supported. A shift whose end time is at or before its start time will not produce reminders.
- Store apps do not appear in Recently Used Apps. Their windows belong to a shared Windows host process, which Savepoint deliberately ignores. Ordinary desktop applications all work.
- Windows may decline to bring Savepoint to the front while you are in a full-screen application. The window is still opened and waiting, and the notification is the second signal.
- On a multi-monitor desk, the very first reminder after signing in may open on the primary display rather than the one you are using.
